With 3d preserved ink sac !! A one of its kind.
I picked it up from a high grade collection I recently bought (estate sale). The collector dug and prepared the specimen himself.
Name : Loligosepia aalensis (synonym Geoteuthis bollensis),
Age : Lower Jurassic, Toarcian stage
Findspot : Holzmaden , Germany
The slab measures 42 x 32 cm ,while the fossil squid has a size of 15.2 cm ; the biggest ammonite is 9.5 cm. This is a rare squid , and it is much rarer to have the ink sac. It is highlighted with some ammonites. All is original here , nothing has been aded . Note the slab is not glued , but has been stabilized .
